In heavy industries such as mining, metallurgy, and chemical engineering, a pump type equipment that can "gnaw on hard bones" is crucial - it must withstand the erosion of sharp ores, withstand the corrosion of strong acids and alkalis, and swallow high concentrations of solid particles. This is the slurry pump. As the core equipment of industrial slurry conveying system, it is like an all-weather "iron stomach warrior", safely delivering complex media such as mud, slag, tailings to the destination, and maintaining the smooth blood flow of the production line.
1、 Positioning of slurry pump
A slurry pump is a centrifugal or volumetric special pump designed specifically for transporting suspensions containing solid particles. The medium it processes is called "slurry" and usually has the following characteristics:
High abrasiveness: Hard particles such as ore and coal slag can account for 60% -70%, with a flow rate of up to 3-5 meters per second, and wear strength comparable to sandpaper polishing.
Strong corrosiveness: The sulfuric acid slurry used in metallurgical acid washing and phosphate fertilizer production can have a pH value as low as 1.5, causing strong corrosion to metals.
Complex flow state: Solid liquid mixtures are prone to settling and clumping, which may cause pipeline blockage or pump overload.
It is precisely these working conditions that make ordinary water pumps often unable to survive for three months in such scenarios, while specialized slurry pumps can operate stably for thousands of hours.
2、 Structural Design
1. The overcurrent component is armed to the teeth
The key parts of the pump casing, impeller, and guard plate that come into contact with the slurry are made of high chromium cast iron (Cr content 27% -30%) or rubber lining. The hardness of high chromium cast iron can reach HRC62, and its wear resistance is 10 times higher than that of ordinary steel; Rubber lining utilizes elastic cushioning particles to impact, especially suitable for conveying fine particle slurries with a particle size less than 5 millimeters.
2. The sealing system is leak proof
The mechanical seal of traditional water pumps is easily trapped by particles in the slurry, so slurry pumps often use a dual protection of secondary impeller power seal and packing seal. The negative pressure generated by the rotation of the secondary impeller blocks the invasion of slurry, while the packing box is filled with clean water or lubricating grease to form an isolation layer, ensuring that the leakage rate is less than 5 milliliters per minute.
3. Fluid intelligence in channel design
The open wide channel impeller reduces the risk of blockage, and the blade inlet angle is optimized to 25 ° -35 °, which can improve efficiency and reduce turbulent wear. Some large pumps are also equipped with adjustable wear-resistant lining plates, which can adjust the clearance through bolts after local wear, extending the overall service life.
